Pile Dwellings at Lake Zug
The pile dwelling world heritage site is mostly below the water level and therefore not directly accessible. The optimal preservation conditions for organic materials (wood, etc.) make the pile dwellings sites of particular importance and high scientific significance. We travel by boat on Lake Zug, with staff from the Zug Office for Monument Preservation and Archaeology providing information about the respective sites. After a picnic together, we will walk to other pile dwelling sites which, following the artificial lowering of Lake Zug, are now located on land.
